Reading Club's 28th Annual Fair
This year's Fair on July 1st at Rivermead Leisure Centre, Richfield Avenue, Reading, RG1 8EQ was onthe 27th Annual Fair and Display Competition that the Club has held. The first Fair that the Club organised was held at Bulmershe Leisure Centre in Woodley on July 5th 1992 with just 80 tables, it was so enjoyable and successful that the Club has held one each year ever since. What huge improvements have been made along the way !!!
In 1993 we moved to Loddon Valley Leisure Centre and rented HALF of the Sports Hall, demand for a bigger and better Fair then led us to rent the whole floor area, but not long after this the entire Sports complex was closed for re-development. This forced the Club to fortunately re-locate to Rivermead Leisure Centre in Reading, where we have happily been located for almost 20 years. Success built on success, and now the Fair is considered one of the outstanding events in the yearly calendar of Postcard and Cigarette Card Fairs. Held as a joint Fair for both Cigarette and Trade Card collectors and Postcard collectors, and with 163 tables and 93 dealers from diverse parts of the UK it is hugely popular, attracting collectors from Scotland, Europe and even regulars from the USA.
This is the Fair for collectors, organised and run by fellow collectors.
If you have never visited the Fair before we urge you not to miss this once-a-year bonanza being held at Rivermead Leisure Centre, Richfield Avenue, Reading, RG1 8EQ on July 2nd, opening at 9-30am to 4.30pm. Car parking is available at the Centre (meter charges apply), while Reading Railway Station is an excellent connection hub, and is about a mile walk from the Centre.
For the possibly non-interested wives or husbands there is the opportunity for a boat trip on the River Thames a 10 minute walk away, or Reading Town Centre and the Oracle Shopping Centre !!!!
